matix_xitam16 Apr 2026 14:25Hello everyone,
I have now installed my photovoltaic system and I am very satisfied.
I routed the cables along the house wall using an aluminum conduit.
As you can see, I placed the cables with a drip loop inside a box, which is open on the back side and guides the cables into the house.
Now my question: How should I protect the strings in the drip loop?
They are hanging at about 2.5m (8 feet) height, so I think the risk from external influences is low—mainly weather exposure.
Would you still recommend putting them inside a duct? Any suggestions or tips?
Thanks and best regards

As you can see ... a picture is missing ;-)
Show it, then it will be easier to say if and what might still be useful.

nordanney20 Apr 2026 10:47Ok – thanks.
I would slip a short slitted (UV-resistant) corrugated conduit over it. Drill a hole at the bottom to let water drain out. Ideally, you can push it slightly into the aluminum pipe, so you won’t have any issues with the cables being rubbed by any sharp edges.
Have you installed any strain relief?

No, I don’t have any strain relief. At the top of the roof, the cables are secured multiple times with cable clips on a mounting rail.
I haven’t come up with an idea on how to install strain relief. Do you have any suggestions?

I’m thinking of something like this:
