Hello everyone, I recently assembled some IKEA Platsa cabinets, but I ran into a problem: the doors don’t close flush and are slightly misaligned, even though I tightened all the screws. My question is whether there is a specific trick or method to properly adjust the doors of the PLATSA modules so that they are perfectly aligned? I have already tried loosening the hinges a bit and realigning them, but the result is not satisfactory. Are there adjustable points on the doors that I might have missed, or is there a guide on how to achieve a clean fit? Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

Hello Vimal,

regarding your question about adjusting the IKEA PLATSA doors: Yes, there is indeed a way to align the doors precisely. The PLATSA doors, like other IKEA fronts, have adjustable hinges with screws that allow you to fine-tune the position of the door.

Here is a brief guide:

- Open the door and locate the hinge, which usually has three screws to use.
- The side screws adjust the door horizontally (left or right).
- The screws towards the front/back change the distance to the cabinet edge, adjusting the depth.
- Some hinges also allow vertical adjustment so the door can be aligned at the same height.

Be careful to move the screws only slightly – it’s better to make several small corrections than one big adjustment.

Tip: If you want to align all the doors on one cabinet, start by adjusting the middle door first, then the ones next to it, and so on, to achieve an even front.

If you feel a door is sticking, also check the hanging; sometimes the door is not fully seated on the hinge.

In summary:
- Inspect the hinges carefully
- Make several small adjustments patiently
- Follow the proper sequence when aligning

I hope this helps you!

That’s correct, I can confirm this. Just turn the side screws and the door will move accordingly. Usually, only minor adjustments are needed.

Additionally: With the IKEA PLATSA modules, it is essential to align the doors to the correct height, as the connections between the modules otherwise appear visibly uneven.

It is practical that the hinges can be adjusted along all three axes:

- Vertical adjustment: By loosening and shifting the top screw, depending on the model.
- Horizontal adjustment: On the side via a separate screw.
- Depth: To ensure the door sits flush with the cabinet frame.

Also, make sure the cabinet frame itself is properly level, as this greatly affects the door alignment. A spirit level can be very helpful here.

Finally, it is recommended to make the final door adjustments only after all modules are securely connected and aligned to ensure precise fitting.

Another small recommendation: Take advantage of hanging the doors only loosely at first. This way, you can easily remove and check the doors during the adjustment process.

Also, make sure not to fully tighten the hinge screws until you have determined the exact position. This reduces pressure and allows for more flexibility.

Sometimes it helps to temporarily align the doors using small wooden wedges or thin spacers to visually check their position before everything is fixed permanently.

Summary:
- Hang doors loosely at first
- Fully tighten screws only when alignment is correct
- Use small aids as needed

This way, you can achieve a clean and as precise result as possible.
