Hello everyone,

I am currently working on designing my planned Ikea Platsa furniture and am considering whether there are suitable handles that offer a soft touch. My idea is to find handles that are not only functional but also feel high-quality and comfortable – that is, soft, grippy, and without cold, hard material.

Does anyone know of products or manufacturers that specifically offer soft-touch furniture handles for Ikea PLATSA? I am not just looking for simple plastic handles but something with a rubber-like or velvety coating that really makes handling more pleasant.

Any tips on installation options or potential compatibility issues with PLATSA would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello malonu,

there are a few important points to consider regarding soft-touch furniture handles for Ikea PLATSA, so I’d like to explain them in more detail since the selection isn’t entirely straightforward.

First of all: PLATSA offers quite a flexible front design, but the standard drill holes and door thickness are quite specific. Therefore, when buying handles, you need to make sure the screw length fits and that the handle construction is suitable to ensure a stable installation.

Regarding soft-touch, you often find handles made of plastic with a soft rubber or silicone coating. These feel pleasant to the touch, provide a good grip, and look more refined than hard, bare metal handles. However, quality is important because cheaper soft-touch coatings can wear off over time.

It’s often worth checking specialized furniture accessory manufacturers. Some produce handles with genuine soft-touch surfaces that come in various designs compatible with PLATSA. Handles described as “rubberized” are also interesting, as they usually come with solid screws and a well-thought-out mounting system.

I would recommend paying particular attention to the following points:
- Screw length and diameter (usually 32 mm (1.25 inches) or longer)
- Material quality of the handle surface (soft, non-slip, durable)
- Ease of installation (can the handles be screwed on easily without special adapters)
- Appearance and style (do the handles suit the rather minimalist PLATSA look or your overall interior concept)

Do you have any specific requirements regarding color or design? If you already have ideas, I can provide more detailed advice.

What exactly are your fronts made of (wood, coated, laminate)? That also matters for selecting handles.

Hello malonu,

I understand your question well, as the right handles can make a big difference in daily use of the furniture.

There are indeed handles with a soft-touch finish that are compatible with Ikea PLATSA. It is important to check the screw length used for your PLATSA doors before purchasing, because some soft-touch handles, especially those made of softer plastic or silicone, often come with shorter screws that you might need to replace.

Installation is usually straightforward since PLATSA has standard 32 mm (1.25 inches) hole spacing. You can find soft-touch surfaces on handles from various manufacturers, mainly in matte or satin finishes. These feel more comfortable than bare metal or hard plastic.

If ease of cleaning is also important to you: soft-touch surfaces are often resistant to fingerprints, but you should pay attention to quality to ensure the coating does not peel or become sticky with use.

A tip: also look for handles with rubberized or silicone-coated parts, which affect the feel and provide better grip.

If you need help with purchasing or installation, feel free to ask here. What kind of room are you planning — kitchen, living room, or another space?

Hi malonu,

I find this topic really interesting! 😊 Especially for furniture like PLATSA, which has a rather simple design, soft-touch handles can really add a sense of luxury and comfort.

Some time ago, I looked for handles that don’t feel cold or hard and found a few manufacturers that highlight “soft touch” as a key feature. These are usually matte or slightly rubberized surfaces, sometimes even with a kind of velvety feel.

However, to be honest, the true softness in the tactile experience mostly depends on the material composition, and inexpensive products often end up feeling like cheap plastic. For PLATSA, handles with a standard hole distance of 32mm (1.25 inches) usually fit well, but it’s best to check if the screw length matches.

My tip: if you want something special, you could also look for handles made of silicone. Although there aren’t many suppliers, the material is very soft and durable.

I hope this helps, and feel free to ask more questions!

These are important criteria that I fully agree with. Additionally: When choosing, pay attention to how the handles react over time with moisture. Especially soft-touch coatings can deteriorate faster on kitchen furniture.

I once tested handles with a soft-touch surface in the kitchen that became slightly sticky after a few months. Therefore, if you use PLATSA in the living area, this is less of an issue. For kitchens or bathrooms, I recommend textured aluminum or stainless steel versions with rubber inserts.

I would also always try to choose handles with replaceable screws in case you want to swap them out later.

For soft-touch handles on PLATSA:
- Make sure the standard hole spacing is 32 mm (1.26 inches)
- Look for models with rubberized or silicone coating
- Check that the screw length matches the door thickness
- The quality of the coating is crucial for durability

With these points, you should find a good selection.
