Hello everyone, I recently purchased the Ikea Platsa furniture to redesign my living room and am now facing the challenge of securing it firmly to a tiled floor. My specific question is: What methods or materials can you recommend to safely fix the Platsa furniture onto tiles without damaging the floor or compromising the stability of the furniture? I am particularly interested in a secure anchoring to prevent tipping or slipping, as the floor is very smooth. I am open to suggestions such as gluing, screwing, special feet, or other solutions. It would also be helpful if you have experience with the different loads that such cabinets may be subjected to. Thanks for your advice!
Hello gerhard4, to securely fix the Ikea Platsa furniture on a tiled floor, I recommend the following approach: - Use non-slip furniture pads or anti-slip mats under the furniture legs to prevent slipping without damaging the floor. - Additionally, you can attach the furniture to the wall using the included wall fasteners – this greatly increases stability and prevents tipping. - If floor fixing is still necessary, you should use special floor anchors designed for tiles (e.g., chemical anchors combined with a suitable drill bit for tiles). Caution: there is a risk of damaging the tiles here. - Alternatively, there are mounting adhesives or double-sided tapes specifically made for tiled floors and furniture. However, their load capacity is limited, so they are not ideal for larger or heavier cabinets. In summary, I recommend prioritizing wall fasteners and non-slip materials first, and floor fixings only with great care and experience.

What methods or materials would you recommend to securely fix Platsa furniture onto tiles without damaging the floor or compromising the furniture’s stability? I understand your concern well. The challenge with tiled floors is that drilling can often be “fatal” for the tiles. Therefore, I would strongly suggest considering wall mounting first. The Platsa series has specific mounting points for wall anchors that are well hidden inside the cabinet structure. This provides a lot of stability.
To prevent slipping, definitely use anti-slip pads – these are soft and protect the floor. There are also self-adhesive versions that are easy to apply and can be removed without leaving residue if needed.
If floor fixing is absolutely necessary, you could work very carefully with a glass or tile drill bit. Make sure to seal the holes properly to prevent moisture from getting under the tiles. Then you can use chemical anchors, which offer a high load capacity.
In case of doubt, I would always recommend using the wall as the primary fixing point. This way, your floor stays intact and the furniture remains secure.

I definitely recommend anti-slip rubber strips or pads. They are usually cheaper, very easy to apply, and protect the floor. For more security, wall mounting is the way to go. It holds firmly without risking damage to the floor.
And hey, if you don’t want to place the furniture completely against the wall, try cabinet feet with rubber pads. They provide some give but hardly slip.
Hey gerhard4, I had exactly the same problem with my tiled floor! What really helped me was a combination of self-adhesive anti-slip felt pads and a proper wall fixing from the Ikea set. 🙂 The felt pads prevent slipping very effectively, even on a very smooth floor, and the wall fixing provides solid support so nothing tips or wobbles.
I was initially skeptical about the load bearing, but after a few months I can say it really holds up strongly. For extra security, you can also install small angle brackets at the lower part if you want—but for me that wasn’t necessary. Good luck and enjoy your Platsa furniture!
