dailaHello everyone, I am currently planning a larger kitchen project using the Ikea Metod system and am wondering: which assembly tools are best suited for Ikea Metod? I already have a basic set with a screwdriver, cordless drill driver, and spirit level, but I’m curious if there are specialized tools or additional equipment that can significantly simplify the installation. I’m particularly interested in stability, precision, and making the work easier with the typical Metod connections. What experiences have you had, and what would you recommend?
Hey, I would add a small helper: an angle clamp or corner clamp. This will help you fix the cabinet corners better and make the assembly much smoother 😊. And if you want, use a cordless tool with a gentle torque setting, so you don’t overtighten the screws – this protects the chipboards and they hold better.
For the proper installation of Ikea Metod, I recommend: - A cordless drill/driver with adjustable torque settings, preferably with enough power and a compact design to easily reach tight spaces. - Special bits for Torx screws, as Metod screws mostly have Torx heads. - A precise spirit level, ideally with a magnetic back for easy alignment. - Additionally, clamps, as Chen67 already mentioned, are very useful to hold cabinet corners in place during screw assembly and ensure a precise fit.
I would like to add that choosing the right bit is often underestimated. Ikea Metod mainly uses Torx T20. A high-quality bit prevents rounding off screw heads, making assembly much easier. It is also helpful to use a cordless screwdriver with continuously adjustable torque to avoid damage to the panels. Preventing over-tightening is essential when working with chipboard.
