Hello everyone, I am currently planning a larger kitchen project using the Ikea Metod system and am wondering: which assembly tools are best suited for Ikea Metod? I already have a basic set with a screwdriver, cordless drill driver, and spirit level, but I’m curious if there are specialized tools or additional equipment that can significantly simplify the installation. I’m particularly interested in stability, precision, and making the work easier with the typical Metod connections. What experiences have you had, and what would you recommend?

An angle clamp or a corner clamp is useful. It helps to secure cabinet corners better and makes assembly much smoother 😊.

I think clamps are often overrated. If you work precisely, you don’t necessarily need them. It’s much more important to control the screws manually instead of running the cordless drill wildly. The success stories about clamps usually come down to a lack of care. It’s best to just check your work yourself.

I think clamps are a real game changer, especially for beginners! Fixing the cabinet corners when working on large modules can be a huge help, particularly if you're working alone. I highly recommend getting some, as they make assembly much more relaxed! And of course, a good torque screwdriver is essential to avoid damaging anything 😊

A cordless drill driver with adjustable torque is a must.

Hello and thanks for the tip! What torque range would you specifically recommend? I have a tool with 15+ settings. Is that enough or should it be more?

Ikea Metod mostly uses Torx T20.

Good to know that it’s Torx. Is T20 the same for all Metod screws, or do you also need T15 or other drivers as a supplement?

15 settings are generally more than sufficient, as this allows you to adjust the torque precisely. For the particleboard used in Metod cabinets, a range of about 2–6 Nm (1.5–4.5 ft-lb) is recommended. It is important to be careful when tightening the corner connectors and to set the torque so the tool does not overtighten any screws. Torx T20 is indeed the most common screw type for Metod; Torx T15 can also be useful when assembling accessories or panels with smaller screws.
