Hello everyone, I am considering assembling my new Ikea Platsa furniture without the original assembly instructions.

The Platsa series is known for its versatile modules, but the instructions are very detailed and admittedly quite extensive. Since I am fairly handy and have assembled various pieces of furniture before, I wonder if it is realistic to put together Platsa furniture correctly and sturdy without the paper instructions, perhaps by orienting the parts based on their shape and the supplied screws.

Maybe some of you have experience with this or tips on which details to pay special attention to when skipping the instructions? Are there common pitfalls I should avoid? Of course, I want to avoid anything not fitting or becoming unstable in the end.

Hey Lelimu! Great question! 😃 I think if you have good DIY skills, you can definitely manage it! Platsa furniture is pretty straightforward in design, and most parts only fit in their designated spots. Of course, the instructions are very helpful, but you can also rely on the shape and pre-drilled holes to guide you.

It is important, however, to pay attention to the assembly sequence, because sometimes you need to fix certain parts first before attaching others. If you’re patient and organize everything beforehand, it usually works out well. So: go ahead and give it a try! ☺️👍

Without instructions, it is possible, but you should first properly sort the parts and check where each piece belongs. Assign screws accurately and pay attention to the orientation of the modules. Not every step is immediately obvious.

Hello Lelimu, I would like to share a few tips for successfully assembling Platsa furniture even without instructions:

- First, sort all the parts by shape and size; this helps keep an overview.
- Arrange the screws by type and size, as different screws are intended for different connections.
- Be careful with rear drill holes: Platsa often has concealed joints that need to fit precisely.
- Plan the assembly order clearly: start with the frame and side panels, then the back panels and drawers.

A common mistake is screwing parts together in the wrong order, which later makes assembling other components more difficult or causes instability. However, if you proceed carefully, it works well.

I can understand well that you feel uncertain when the instructions are missing. I had a similar experience myself. I found it difficult to properly assess the individual steps, especially fitting doors and drawers.

It was actually easier when I took a moment before each step to carefully examine the parts – this helped me better understand how everything connects. If you get stuck, try assembling the modules temporarily without screws first. This provides more confidence and helps prevent mistakes.

Yeah, I think that’s great! 🚀 If you already have experience, you can skip the instructions! The important thing is to work systematically and carefully check each part. You’ll quickly learn which part goes where. Take your time and enjoy the process! Good luck! 😎👍
