Hello everyone, I am currently planning storage solutions at Ikea and came across the Platsa system. However, I am looking for alternatives within the Ikea range that are similarly flexible and customizable but may offer different design options or technical features. My question to the community is: What alternatives to Ikea PLATSA are available at Ikea that provide comparable modular storage but are perhaps structured differently or have additional functions? I would appreciate any specific examples, tips, and experiences.
To add more depth to the topic, I’d like to discuss the assembly and adjustment processes that are important with Platsa compared to other systems. PLATSA’s modular, frameless carcass system is very easy to assemble and allows a high degree of customization thanks to the wide range of sizes, doors, and accessories. You can simply stack multiple smaller units to create large wardrobes or place them side by side.
In contrast, Pax is modular but, due to its deeper and heavier construction, it is less suitable for quick modifications or adjustments by non-professionals – here you should expect sturdy frames and sliding doors, resulting in more effort during assembly.
BESTÅ is ideal for sideboards because it has a shallower depth, but its modular combination options are more limited compared to the PLATSA system.
If, Lamariel, you say that flexibility in storage space is especially important to you, particularly for niches or unusual ceiling heights, then in my experience PLATSA is hard to beat. Alternatives make more sense if you want to focus specifically on wardrobes or TV furniture.

For storage in hallways or rooms with low ceiling heights, I recommend Ivar or the Hemnes system if you prefer a more classic wood-look design. However, they are less modular and flexible than PLATSA. Hemnes is also available in shorter dressers and shelves, but it tends to be heavier and less flexible in comparison.

Irregular ceiling heights are exactly my main concern. Most wardrobe solutions seem to be designed for standard, high rooms.
Are there options within the PAX system to customize the depth? Or are there alternatives to PLATSA that are specifically designed for low rooms or sloped ceilings?
I would appreciate it if anyone has experience with custom Ikea solutions or combinations of different systems within their range.
