BenklaHello everyone,
I am currently planning the installation of Ikea Metod corner cabinets for my new kitchen and want to make sure I don’t miss any important steps during the assembly. What do you consider to be especially crucial steps to watch out for when installing Metod corner cabinets? I am particularly interested in the key points that are essential to achieve a stable, functional, and visually appealing corner in the end.
Are there any special considerations regarding the connection of the cabinets to each other or the doors that should not be underestimated?
I look forward to your experiences and tips!

Hello Benkla,
the most important assembly step for Ikea Metod corner cabinets is definitely the correct alignment and securing of the corner frame. Since corner cabinets are inherently more complex than straight modules, it is essential to assemble all parts exactly according to the instructions from the start, paying close attention to the angles. If the corner frame is not set precisely at a right angle, you will encounter difficulties later when attaching the doors and shelves.
This is exactly where the corner frame comes into play. Additionally, I recommend carefully aligning the wall and cabinets during fastening and allowing enough time for screwing. Anyone who rushes this risks crooked fronts or extended readjustments.

It is very important to install these fittings securely and in the correct position, as otherwise they may cause wobbling or gaps later on. In my project, it helped to carefully check the alignment of the connection points before final fastening and make slight adjustments if necessary.
Last but not least, the sequence of assembly steps plays a significant role to avoid problems when installing the doors and drawers during the final assembly.

Hey everyone!
I think a very important but often overlooked step with Metod corner cabinets is properly pre-drilling and securing the hinges for the doors. Especially with corners, even a few millimeters can make the difference between doors closing properly or not.
Beyond that, it’s really enjoyable when everything fits well – almost like a little puzzle.

I would like to raise another point that often causes problems when installing Metod corner cabinets: aligning and adjusting the base supports and feet. If this is not done precisely, the cabinet may wobble or the fronts may not align flush.
The feeling when the corners don’t fit properly can be quite frustrating. I deliberately recommend adjusting the feet slowly and carefully during the final assembly, and regularly checking for stability in between.
That’s a very good tip I fully agree with. Especially when working with a partner, this makes coordination easier.

Tighten the connecting fittings firmly, but do not overtighten.
Adjust the feet to ensure everything stands level.
Attach and adjust the doors last.
This way, you save time and avoid rework.
