Hello everyone, I recently bought the Ikea Brimnes furniture set and am now facing the challenge of assembling it. Although the included manual is available, I find it is not always completely intuitive, especially with the more complex parts. Is there perhaps a step-by-step guide or proven tips to make assembling the BRIMNES furniture noticeably easier? I am particularly interested in advice that helps avoid common pitfalls or makes the assembly sequence more efficient. Has anyone had experience with it and can provide specific recommendations or even share a structured approach? Many thanks in advance!

Basically, the problem with this type of furniture is often that the Ikea instructions are very minimalistic, which can be challenging for some.

Here is my detailed suggestion for assembling the BRIMNES:
- First, sort all the parts; even better, keep the same screws and dowels in small bowls or containers.
- Prepare the assembly area well: a large, flat surface with a soft underlay (blanket or carpet) to prevent scratches.
- Important tip: don’t assemble parts that you will need to disassemble immediately later because they belong at a later stage. Follow the sequence in the instructions as closely as possible, but always check before connecting parts if other components should be assembled first.
- Do not fully tighten screws right away; first, insert all screws loosely, then tighten them finally.
- Pay attention to the markings on individual parts, often stamped on the back. This sometimes helps avoid mixing up pieces.

I wonder: at what points during the assembly do you feel it becomes complicated? Then I could provide more specific help.

This is really a great tip! I once assembled a cabinet and thought I’d tighten everything properly from the start, but in the end, nothing fit correctly anymore. 😅

Regarding BRIMNES, I would say: stay calm! Take your time, and small breaks help, especially when parts don’t fit perfectly right away. And don’t forget: sometimes the supplied screws or holes aren’t 100% precise, so a bit of care and, if needed, some slight adjustment with a screwdriver can help.

Also, I once read a tip that really helped me – mark the different construction stages in the manual with colored markers. This way, you can always see exactly what’s done and what is still to come. It makes the assembly much more organized and reduces the chaos at the end.

Here is some structure for anyone planning to assemble the BRIMNES:

1. Preparation:
- Check all parts and screws for completeness and group them by type.
- Prepare tools: Phillips screwdriver, hammer, spirit level, and if available, a cordless screwdriver with torque control.

2. Starting Assembly:
- Follow the Ikea instruction manual strictly, but use the tip from PLOMA to loosely screw all parts together initially.
- Make sure to use the correct screws for each part; it matters whether a longer or shorter screw is used as it can damage the furniture.

3. Special BRIMNES Tips:
- For the carcasses, it helps to attach the back panel only at the very end, making it easier to reach the internal connectors.
- Be careful not to tighten the door hinges too much, otherwise the doors may jam.

4. After Assembly:
- Use a spirit level to align the furniture; if the floor is uneven, place small felt pads underneath.

One last question: Does anyone know if Ikea already offers alternative, more detailed assembly instructions for the newer BRIMNES models, either printed or digital? I would personally appreciate that very much.

I completely understand your frustration, especially when you invest a lot of time and effort into assembly and still feel uncertain. What helped me was taking deep breaths now and then during the process and reminding myself, "It’s okay if it gets a bit tricky."

Technical advice is important too, but the emotional aspect shouldn’t be underestimated. Maybe it also helps to have someone assist you during assembly – many tasks are easier with two people! And if you get stuck at any point, just take a short break, step back, and look at the situation with fresh eyes.

Feel free to share exactly where you need more guidance or reassurance, so we can provide more targeted help.
