MefinbarHello everyone,
I recently purchased a Malm bed from IKEA, but unfortunately, the drawer slide is partially damaged and some screws are missing. Now I’m wondering where I can find suitable replacement parts for Malm furniture. Are there official spare part sources from IKEA, or would you recommend third-party suppliers instead? It is important to me that the parts are genuine and fit without any problems, as I don’t want to have to experiment with incompatible accessories. Does anyone have experience with specific shops or databases that offer replacement parts specifically for Malm furniture? Thanks in advance for your tips and advice!

As far as I know, you can request spare parts via their website or by phone, especially for popular series like MALM. However, this can sometimes be a bit inconvenient since not all parts are immediately in stock, and orders must be processed through customer service.
Third-party suppliers naturally offer a wider selection, but I would be cautious about quality and fit. Have you already asked IKEA specifically which parts they can provide? That would be an important first step.
Hello! 🙂
I was also looking for replacement parts for IKEA furniture once (not MALM, but something similar). Back then, the combination of IKEA customer service and a specialized online store selling replacement drawer slides and screws helped me a lot. The screws are usually standardized, but as
And hey – a bit of tinkering with screws can be fun too! ;-) If you want, I can find a few links where I ordered my parts.

I also find it a bit inconvenient since you often have to deal with German and long waiting times.

The drawer slides for MALM seem to be quite specific, so I’d prefer to get the exact original parts.
Oh, that sounds interesting! I recently had a similar case with a MALM desk where the drawer rollers broke. For everyone reading along, I can only encourage you not to be discouraged by this. 🙂
IKEA actually provided great replacement parts for me, although ordering through the hotline was a bit tedious. But the more precisely you provide the item numbers of your furniture, the better it works! The numbers are usually on the back of a part or on the assembly instructions.
My tip: Take photos of the damaged parts and have all product information ready—this makes the service much more efficient.

Sure, original parts are nice – but honestly, technically it’s all fairly simple. Drawer slides often follow standards, and screws can be found at any hardware store. Often, you’re just paying extra for the brand with original parts.
So, if you’re willing to measure and compare yourself, you can usually reach your goal faster and more cost-effectively with third-party suppliers. From my experience, IKEA is not very well equipped when it comes to more unusual parts.
