HAUBUHello everyone,
I am currently facing an issue where the assembly instructions for the Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets are unclear to me in several parts. In particular, the installation steps for the drawer slides and the locking of the connector fittings are difficult for me to follow. I generally have experience with furniture assembly, but here I find the illustrations and the sequence in the instructions somewhat confusing.
Does anyone have tips on how to proceed when dealing with such unclear instructions? Are there any tricks to better understand the steps, or is it better to rely on alternative sources? I want to avoid mistakes during assembly since these are expensive kitchen modules, and I don’t want to deal with returns or rework.
I would be very grateful for any helpful advice!

Especially the assembly steps for the drawer slides and the locking of the connecting fittings are not really clear to me.I completely understand that! IKEA instructions are often very brief, which can be frustrating even for me sometimes. I always find it helpful to take a quiet moment and study the manual step by step before assembling anything.
Sometimes the drawings can be confusing, but once you actually have the parts in your hands and compare them, it usually becomes much easier.
Also, I used to assemble certain tasks in advance on a table, like fitting the drawer slides, before installing everything in the module. This takes the pressure off and helps avoid mistakes.
If you find the instructions too vague, don’t hesitate to use other sources like tutorial videos or forums – you can often find very clear tips there. And if you want, I’d be happy to share my experience, especially if you want to know more about the connecting fittings.

Does anyone have tips on how to best proceed with such an unclear instruction manual?- Sort the parts first and check for completeness
- Read each step several times and compare with the parts
- Stay calm and take your time
- If possible, look at or assemble the same module in parallel
- Watch helpful videos if available
This helps to avoid many common beginner mistakes.

I want to avoid mistakes during assembly because these are expensive kitchen modules and I don’t want to deal with returns or corrections. That’s why it’s better to double-check before tightening any screws. Also, check if the connection is centered and straight before fully securing everything. With Ikea Metod, the order of assembly steps often needs to be followed exactly, otherwise the parts won’t fit properly.
And if necessary: having a second person help out to take a fresh look can make a big difference!
