tramu65Hello everyone, I am setting up a home office and considering which IKEA Platsa combinations might be particularly practical for this. It is important for me to find a solution that offers enough storage space for files and office supplies, while also providing a functional and ergonomic work surface. Additionally, it would be helpful if the combinations are flexible enough to fit well in small rooms and can be expanded if needed. Does anyone have experience with PLATSA? Which models or configurations would you recommend, especially with regard to creating an efficient home office? I look forward to your tips, and even better if you can briefly explain why you chose these combinations!

I recommend combining a tall cabinet with doors and a built-in desk surface.Interesting, but I often find this simple solution overrated. Sometimes having less storage with more flexibility is better – who really needs 1000 folders at home? PLATSA thrives on its modular nature, so it’s better to experiment with several smaller units rather than relying on a single large cabinet.
The idea of using the PLATSA elements modularly is definitely the right approach. For example, I use a combination of low cabinets with drawers and open compartments, combined with a desk surface attached to the outside of the cabinet. This way, I always have my frequently used items within reach while still having enough storage space for files in the closed sections.
From my experience, it is important to set up the workspace ergonomically. Accessories like cable channels and storage boxes from IKEA also help to keep the workstation tidy.

flexible enough to fit well in small spaces and expandable if neededThis criterion is essential. What I notice with PLATSA is that although the components are very versatile, the modular connections can sometimes be fiddly and not very strong with larger assemblies. Therefore, I recommend not spreading the work surface across multiple units but using one continuous board as the tabletop. This is more stable and prevents unpleasant gaps.
Additionally, the room should be carefully measured beforehand to avoid issues with doors or cabinets.
I really appreciated the flexibility of PLATSA when setting up my home office. The atmosphere was also important to me: I chose light-colored cabinets with glass doors so my workspace wouldn’t feel too dark. The combination of storage space and an open work surface helped me stay organized even on busy days.
What I value most is the ability to easily reconfigure it – you can quickly adjust the setup to changing needs, which is truly invaluable for self-employed people like me.
