ᐅ How can the Ikea PAX system be best organized for office supplies?

midasHello everyone,
I am currently working on the optimal organization of our Ikea Pax wardrobe, which is primarily used to store office supplies neatly and clearly. I am especially interested in how to best combine the individual components, such as shelves, drawers, or hanging rods, to efficiently accommodate both small items like pens, paperclips, and notes, as well as larger supplies.
What system or tools are suitable for creating a long-lasting structured order? Are there practical tips on how to divide the compartments effectively to allow quick access and make the most efficient use of the storage space?
I look forward to your assessments and suggestions!

The Ikea PAX system is inherently very flexible, making it easy to adapt to different needs. For office supplies, I recommend the following approach for optimal organization:
- Creating zones: areas for small items, stationery, files, and electronics
- Using drawer inserts and storage boxes to keep small items organized
- Utilizing hanging pockets or small baskets on the sides or doors
- Labeling for quick identification
Use drawers instead of shelves for small materials, as they improve access and visibility. Place shelves flexibly for larger items.
The key is combining adjustable fittings with clear categories.

The PAX system is really brilliant! For example, I have a combination of several drawers and shelves with removable boxes, which makes organizing super easy 😊 It’s important not to lock yourself into one setup from the start but to keep adjusting as you go. Flexibility is key!
Also: Use colored containers for important items – it adds structure and makes it more enjoyable!

Does anyone here have experience with third-party accessories for PAX organization? For example, wooden or plastic drawer inserts? I’m asking because I feel the Ikea inserts can sometimes be too generic and not optimally suited for small office supplies. I’m also interested in whether anyone uses digital solutions for labeling: printing labels via smartphone or systems that are easy to customize.

Third-party suppliers often offer specialized inserts with compartments designed for office supplies, such as sorted drawer inserts for pens, cards, or cables. These are usually durable and visually appealing.
Regarding labeling, flexible label stickers that can be printed with label printers or apps are very practical. Some systems also provide removable or magnetic options for quickly changing contents when needed.
I recommend paying special attention to materials that do not smear or can be easily wiped clean.
