Hello everyone,
I am considering using magnetic door dampers for my Kallax shelving unit. My main questions are how well these dampers actually perform, whether they really soften the typical flap movement smoothly, and how they fare in terms of easy installation and durability.
Who among you uses magnetic door dampers for KALLAX regularly and can share their experience on how these dampers hold up in daily use? I am especially interested in aspects such as noise levels, long-term functionality, and any potential issues with precise fitting on the doors.
Thanks for your input!

It’s great that you bring this up! 🙂 I’ve had magnetic door dampers on my KALLAX since last year, and they’re really a fantastic addition. The doors now close so smoothly that I can’t help but smile every time I shut them! 🙂
Easy to install and very durable – I can only recommend them! So, grab your screwdriver and give it a try!

Easy installation, very effective, doors close smoothly. Thanks for the quick feedback.
I'm also curious whether you use a specific manufacturer or more generic products? And how about the orientation of the dampers – are they very sensitive to spacing or positioning with KALLAX doors?
Magnetic door dampers work based on a fairly simple principle: a neodymium magnet attracts a metal surface, combined with mechanical damping to close the door slowly and quietly.
With KALLAX, it is important to match the dampers precisely to the door size and frame material. Even a slight misalignment can significantly affect their performance.
I recommend measuring the doors and frame before installation, then positioning the dampers to engage the door rebate optimally. This minimizes rattling and ensures smooth closing.
Do you have any special doors (e.g., glass or particularly heavy wooden panels)? That would influence the choice of dampers.

That’s why I’m hoping the regular magnetic dampers will fit well and won’t require too much force to ensure a smooth closing.
