Hello,

I have a general question about the attached pictures. Here in the northern region, many houses are faced with brick veneer. We have often noticed that some houses show discoloration, as seen in the pictures.
Now my question is: What could this be? Does anyone have an idea and can help me out?

Thank you in advance.

Here are the pictures

When it rains or there is precipitation, not only water falls from the sky, but also a lot of dirt. This mixture initially settles on the facade; as the moisture dries, the dirt remains stuck to the cladding, leaving these unsightly marks. At the base of the wall and on the windward side, this happens more than on the rest of the facade, because during heavy weather, rain can bounce off the ground like a rubber ball and hit the base area almost twice as much.

Thank you for the detailed response. Very clear. Thank you.

So, with these kinds of discolorations, there is no need to worry about mold or similar issues.
That is reassuring.

Have a nice Whit Monday.

What would bother me much more are the white efflorescences around the windows – this is related to the installation of the facing bricks. It is not harmful but looks unpleasant.
