Hello!
Where did you buy your fireplace, and were you satisfied?
We are looking for a fireplace, NOT a wood-burning stove. However, I only found two companies: Hark and Kago. Kago has developed quite a bad reputation.
Otherwise, there are fireplace studios that offer custom fireplaces designed by architects, but that will likely be too expensive for us.
Most other fireplace manufacturers only offer wood-burning stoves.
We also don’t want to simply order online because we want the fireplace to be installed by the company as well.
So, do you have any tips for us?
Thank you,
Kirsche27 🙂

Hello!
Well, now we’re going to have a chimney builder marathon. I will check out Hark, Kago, and two smaller studios/chimney builders to compare.
Have a great weekend,
Kirsche. 😎Have fun with that—I’m sure you’ll find the right option for you. In any case, you won’t avoid a personal consultation with a specialist.
Wishing you a great weekend as well,
Walze

One of the two major companies gave us a quote for €5,200. Surprisingly, the consultation there was good.
The second of the two major companies quoted us a price of around €6,000–7,000 (which apparently already includes a 20% discount). However, the salesperson there was unbearable. In other words, we will not be going back to that store. The advice was extremely poor.
A fireplace installer gave us a quote of €9,000 (including surrounding tiling). The consultation was also good.
Now we are torn between the large company number 1 and the fireplace installer.
We find it strange that the price difference is so extreme (€4,000).
What do you think? 🙁

Hello,
Of course, the chimney installer is more expensive since they don’t work with the same volume as the big company. But I’m sure they will create something really unique for you. Your individual preferences can be better taken into account with a custom job.
I’m curious which one you’ll choose—please share a picture when it’s finished!

LilaHello Lila!
The fireplace from the custom builder isn’t that unique. It looks (almost) exactly like the one from the big company. We knew the fireplace builder would be more expensive, but we find the price difference quite extreme: 5,200€ versus 9,000€. The higher quote does not include the tiling around it. We have no idea what that will cost, but we would need to hire someone else for that. The fireplace builder would handle that as part of the job.
