Good morning everyone,

We have ordered a kitchen for our new build, but the delivery is not scheduled until late 2023. Until then, we still have many options to adjust. One of these I am now considering changing, but I wanted to gather some experiences here first. It’s about the drawers—specifically the drawer side panels. In the Schüller kitchen we chose, the drawer sides are made of glass. However, I’m concerned that after some time they might no longer look good and cleaning them will always require emptying the drawers. The biggest advantage and a convincing argument was the clear visibility inside the drawers, which sit slightly higher. But I fear that over time, cleaning needs will diminish this benefit.

Has anyone had experience with this and would like to share?

If necessary, we might still upgrade to fully enclosed drawers.

This is not a problem at all; the glass panels can be quite easily removed for cleaning, if desired.

And elements that are not made of glass still need to be cleaned just the same. Glass is actually the upgrade; having no glass would be more of a downgrade.

No experience, because I don’t see why I should pay extra for glass side panels on drawers. If they are already included, that’s fine – otherwise a) you can’t see them anyway and b) cleaning doesn’t matter since a) applies.

The glass is standard with Schüller. Our utility room is also fully furnished with the Clean & Easy series from Schüller; the cabinets were definitely not subject to an additional charge and already include the glass inserts.

For drawers, use not only glass side panels but also a glass back panel, since that is where the most items tend to get lost and are difficult to reach.
