Hello,

a quick question.
I would like to build the following bungalow.
Living area approximately 180 sqm (1,938 sq ft).
Garage approximately 34 sqm (366 sq ft).

Floor plan of a house with living room, kitchen, pantry, 3 bedrooms, bathroom, and garage.

Am I allowed to build the garage overhang right up to the property boundary?
The house is to be built in Baden-Württemberg.

Best regards
M

He doesn’t have to live in it either 😀

I wonder why almost every future homeowner feels the need to act as their own architect.
I suspect it's a simplistic line of reasoning: architects cost money, stairs cost money – so people probably think they save the most by designing a bungalow themselves.

Well, with a bungalow, everything is on one level (you have to think about getting older too). You don’t have any sloped ceilings anywhere. I have a 10 ares (0.1 hectares) plot, so it fits well. And a bungalow just looks really good.

But you’re right, a bungalow is also cheaper than one and a half stories.

In Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and the areas of Brandenburg near Poland but far from the capital.

And even in the region between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, the bungalow is more affordable.

No, the closer you get to Stuttgart, the more unaffordable the land becomes.
