Dear forum,
Our quote includes tiles in the above size at 30 euros per square meter (approximately $30 per square yard) including installation. Our general contractor has also openly mentioned that many homeowners choose a larger format. This would be significantly more expensive due to the need for a second worker, more difficult installation, and increased material usage. I find myself wavering daily between "there's no need to follow every trend" and "maybe I'll regret the smaller formats for the next 40 years."
My parents-in-law recently installed a bathroom with this size of tile, which we like very much. We have planned to use the tiles for the hallways, entrance area, kitchen, and bathrooms. Using different tiles is not an option for us.
Could you please share your experiences and feedback?

... Because you wrote not about taste, but about "good and affordable." That is a judgment that doesn’t belong here.
Good & Affordable is a brand that doesn’t have the same quality as an expensive brand. But that has nothing to do with taste in tiles.
So anyone who reduces the quality of a tile to its size is, in my opinion, narrow-minded. Yes!
But some people do have a problem with size 😉 A tile that costs 30€/sqm (30€/sq ft) is good because it serves its purpose as a tile. At the same time, it is more affordable than a large-format tile! Where exactly is the judgment in that? That is a fact! That is exactly what the original poster stated in the first post.
Why do you have to associate my "good & affordable" with something that is not my intention at all? See the previous sentence. And by now, it should be clear that the brand "Good & Affordable" does not necessarily imply a lack of quality.
I am also not claiming that you think small-scale just because you prefer small tiles and many grout lines!
With sizes of 30x30 and 30x60, you can't really call them small format 😉 ... I would call tiles from 10x10 or 10x15 up to 25x25 small format 😉.
I think sizes from 30x60 up to 60x60 offer nice installation possibilities, which is very important, especially if you want to tile continuously. You need to consider the installation method, including expansion joints, to ensure the transitions look good and not poorly done. I also find the grout joint width important—compared to earlier times with widths of 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more, today’s options with 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) on calibrated tiles really make a significant difference.

...I never claimed otherwise. See post #37. However, I really don’t like the tiles in the bathroom. But that’s not a big deal, for example, I think of the guest bathroom by @Alessandro.Nida35a schrieb:

I also think grout width is very important. If you compare the older standard of 5 mm (2 inches) and more to today’s possibilities of 1-2 mm (0.04-0.08 inches) with calibrated tiles, it really makes a big difference. However, I have the impression that tile manufacturers still don’t fully consider grout dimensions—that is, they don’t align formats as a system in a way that allows combining 60-30-20 cm (24-12-8 inches) sizes with the same grout width without needing adjustments at the transitions.
