Hello,
can anyone maybe shed some light on this?
I've already heard from two companies that they cannot provide a quote for installing the washbasins we supplied ourselves because they are not allowed to install them dürfen. Even our plumber, who is handling the rest of the house installations, said he is not allowed to do it. Then I asked a carpentry company installing our staircase, and they also say they are not allowed to do it. I am also not receiving any offers or inquiries from my request for quotes on MyHammer.
I'm missing a piece of the puzzle here to understand. Why exactly is no one allowed to do this?

TZTZ I have no issues with a mix and I'm not radical. On the contrary, I often find it easier dealing with men than with women.
Nevertheless, I think it's good that the option exists. YESSSSSSSS.... that's right; here’s to that, a Dujardin

I have been working in a male-dominated field for over 15 years. Do you have any idea what kind of things women have to listen to there? He IS one!

Then preferably from women – there are few things that can scare female beginners more than mansplaining. ...but then no girly event with pink tools and prosecco... I much prefer men with proper tools and a beer. And it’s not supposed to be a do-it-yourself craft workshop where women only learn how to build a "great" shelf from books and concrete, while being intimidated from the start by rotary hammers and demolition tools.
I’m very grateful that my father taught me basic handyman skills from an early age and trusted me with them. Now my husband is not only a master craftsman himself but naturally also trusts me to handle plunge routers, demolition hammers, and stone saws. Even though we both come from IT backgrounds.
To the original poster: Of course, the best would be a jack-of-all-trades for you. Do you know anyone in your circle of acquaintances? Someone who has been doing house-related work for years, basically a "fatherly friend" for both of you, who can give you the help you need to help yourselves, advise you on the essential basic tools you need, and show you how to install the bathroom sink yourself? It’s not rocket science at all; you just need someone to show you.
And if you don’t have anyone in your circle of acquaintances, here’s another option:
In my opinion, lending the tools and providing training is something the craftsman can do without risking warranty issues.
Charging on an hourly basis also makes it more attractive for the craftsman. The longer it takes, the more they earn.

Hello,
things really escalated here while I was away. For me, the topic was initially fine since I had received some useful suggestions. I just replied again around page 6 to the person who contacted me, as I didn’t want to be rude.
We will definitely continue to learn about craftsmanship now that we will soon have our own home. We just don’t want to start with the bathroom vanities as trial objects. These need to be installed on the wall quite early, and they can be quite heavy, especially with the sinks on top. You really need to know which holes to drill depending on the wall type and the weight involved. I don’t find this task as trivial for amateurs as it is sometimes portrayed. I don’t want one of these falling on my feet someday.
Other jobs, like attaching coat hooks, wall shelves, pictures, and maybe even light fixtures, we would like to try ourselves. I just think bathroom vanities are not suitable for practice.
Today I spoke with our (potential) moving company and had an inspection. I shared our concerns with the man there. He was understanding about our problem and said he knows someone who can help. If that person doesn’t have time, he will do it himself. Happy, happy!
