Hello everyone,

a quick question for those of you who have already completed building your house. Was there a moment when you thought, "Oh no, what did we actually choose here? This doesn’t look at all like we imagined it would?"

We are currently having some doubts about the tiles in the hallway. Maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in place.

How was it for you?

Best regards

I struggled for a long time with selecting the windows.

In the end, we chose wood-aluminum windows with whitewashed wood on the inside. The exterior is gray—slightly browner than RAL 7016. Please be sure to see this type of window in person, as we hadn’t fully considered that a large portion of the exterior frame is also visible from the inside. I have often thought that we could have just ordered completely gray or even black windows since you can also see a lot of the black sealing.

The reason we went with white on the inside was because our window profiles are quite thick, and I felt the amount of color in the room would have been too much. Especially combined with furniture and other surfaces, the color options become quite limited. If our frame profile had been smaller, we would definitely have chosen gray on the inside. See the windows from @rick2018 or @Mellina; unfortunately, such windows were beyond our budget.

The textile screens are closed in the pictures.

Same here, I would definitely do it like that for the next house.

A friend had light gray/aluminum-colored window frames on the inside of her rental apartment. She said it was challenging because you always have to consider the window color when choosing decorations – I hadn’t noticed, so it’s probably more of an issue for those who pay great attention to details.

But it’s precisely that attention to detail that makes everything come together in the end. It’s not about design, money, or taste, but you can feel when it’s harmonious!

Last week, in a holiday apartment, we saw plastic windows with wood-look foil, including on the inside. It matched the Alpine style, but it’s not something I would want in my own house. Wood was also considered for us, but I felt more restricted when it came to furniture and decor. I don’t like it when too many different types of wood appear in one room. That would have limited me too much with the flooring and windows.
I find it easier with anthracite.
But like with everything, it ultimately comes down to personal taste.

Oh Solveigh, just ask the ship captain down there if it bothers him when he passes your house and looks up at you (quote from my contractor at the time, in response to my many concerns).
You have an amazing house with so many tasteful details; if it really bothers you that much, I’ll gladly move in there myself.
You will always find something, but you can always fix that next time.
When I look at your house pictures, I see the whole room and the entire house, and they are images I always enjoy looking at.
If the windows become unbearable, I’ll just order a pallet of sparkling wine and fill the bathtub with it.
Windows aside... amazing house!!!

...

In the end, as you can see from the positive feedback and the number of likes on the posted pictures, the house, the bedroom, as well as the window colors including the textile screens, turned out pretty great.

There are certainly quite a few who would move in immediately if it were possible. I count myself among them

I still have one question: Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find your bathtub faucet. I would be interested in the manufacturer and model of both the bathtub and the faucet. A picture would be great as well. I’m still considering installing a freestanding bathtub.
