Hello everyone,
a quick question for those of you who have already completed building your house. Was there a moment when you thought, "Oh no, what did we actually choose here? This doesn’t look at all like we imagined it would?"
We are currently having some doubts about the tiles in the hallway. Maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in place.
How was it for you?
Best regards
Herr Stein

I like the decoration itself, and it suits that spot, but the fact that it is made of tiles doesn’t work for me. I would have preferred something like decorative plaster or similar.
But it is definitely a bold choice. This white wasteland, interrupted by something anthracite, bores me completely.

This white wasteland, interrupted by some anthracite color, totally bores me. At least the carmine red "accent" areas are out of fashion now; the smokey eyes just need to go next.

I haven’t built yet, or rather, we are currently in the middle of it, but I’m also worried that I might have made some mistakes (for example, the window installer was quite surprised by my opinion of wanting anthracite-colored windows on the inside as well... that unsettled me).
I’ll join in here. Anthracite on the inside is also uncommon. Usually, the interiors are white. That’s standard because it works best that way.

What is normal?
Everyone does it ...
...because "it works best"... "it works best" what exactly?
So, in a vacation apartment last week, we had plastic windows with wood-effect foil, including on the inside. It matched the Alpine style but is something I wouldn’t want in my own house. A friend had windows in light gray/aluminum on the inside in a rental apartment. She said it was difficult because you always have to consider the window color when decorating – which I didn’t really notice, so it’s probably more of an issue for those who pay close attention to details.
We have both wood and metal (bronze) indoors, and this was a deliberate choice. We have consistently used these two materials throughout, on walls, the front door, interior doors... I originally had bronze-colored bathroom fixtures as well, but unfortunately, they were discontinued.
