I would like to ask a question about this: For our new house, we have the choice between "breathable with wood fiber board" and "vapor barrier with polystyrene." (I can provide the exact wall construction details for both if needed.) The price difference is $5,440.00 including VAT for our two-story house, 9.40 m x 9.40 m (31 feet x 31 feet).

Is our current choice of "breathable with wood fiber board," which we can still cancel, a good one, or could we also do without it?

By the way, we are building without a mechanical ventilation system.

A non-vapor-permeable construction with ventilation makes EXTREMELY more sense than a vapor-permeable one without ventilation. At least one exhaust fan in the bathroom would definitely be necessary for me.

I would prefer a ventilated curtain wall facade.
And I believe OSB glued at the seams is no longer considered vapor permeable. But perhaps a true expert can provide more precise information than a layperson who is having a house built.

...just out of curiosity... what do you think is diffusing there?
