Hello everyone,

we are looking for a cabinet for our utility room.

Some time ago, we saw an advertisement from a kitchen manufacturer featuring a combination like this:
On the far left, a cabinet with drawers for pantry storage, etc.
On the far right, a narrow cabinet with a door where the vacuum cleaner can be stored upright, along with some cleaning supplies.
In the middle, two cabinet sections, each with a large, half-height recess for the washing machine and dryer, with a drawer underneath each and regular shelves above.

The total width was around 2.4m (7 ft 10 in) or 2.6m (8 ft 6 in). It would fit well and look neat.

However, it’s not exactly cheap. You can expect to pay around 3000€.

A relative told us he wouldn’t place the washing machine on a raised platform because it moves or might even “walk.”
Our machine doesn’t do that yet, but of course, I don’t want to spend that much money only to have everything rattling after two years.

What do you think?
How have you organized your utility room?

A Google search for "washing machine pedestal" yields several results. For an all-around solution, I would use components from the Ikea kitchen range.

Can we see that?

I only have an old "unfinished" photo right now, without the countertop yet (it’s just plain white), and the edges are also painted white.

@Fummelbrett!

How did you build the platform? Is it a plywood panel mounted on eight separate feet (special ones?) and nothing else? Is it somehow anchored to the floor?

There are currently washing machine pedestals available in the Lidl online shop for 60 euros.

Nothing is anchored to the floor. It’s a plywood sheet with 8 small feet (each rated for 150kg (330 lbs), if I remember correctly). It stands rock solid.

The Ikea Pax met our requirements.
