Hello,

I’m curious about how you handle this:

When you enter the front door, depending on the design, the staircase to the upper floor or attic is located either to the left or right of the entrance. You come in wearing outdoor shoes and may walk a few meters before taking them off or placing them in the cloakroom area. Others in the house, wearing slippers, also walk along the same path from the entrance to reach the staircase to the upper floor or attic. How have you solved this, or is this just something you have to accept?

Thanks for your feedback!

We also have the staircase going straight up in the living room. Opinions differ on this, but it makes it relatively easy to separate the "clean area" from the "dirty area." The guest bathroom is also accessed from the hallway, not from the entrance area. No matter who is going upstairs or to the bathroom, they definitely don’t need to pass through the area with the shoes.

Our stroller is stored under the stairs, so the only option is to clean daily or at least vacuum/sweep.
We have been managing this way for 3 years; it is what it is, and there are worse things.

Our staircase is located right next to the front door, and we have a doormat inside the entrance area. However, the only real help is to vacuum or mop briefly every day. For this, we also keep a small cordless stick vacuum cleaner in the hallway.

@seth0487 yes, using the dirt-trapping mat was also one option I considered, and it will likely be implemented.

@ALL thanks for the feedback

Besides, this is just a phase that will pass.
