ᐅ How many drawers?

Hello,

I cannot install tall cabinets in my kitchen (structurally not possible).
So I have to fit everything below + 1 tall cabinet + 1 corner cabinet with a swing-out door.
I strongly assume that drawer cabinets are more expensive than regular cupboard cabinets?

But never mind...
How many large drawers would you recommend? Not the small ones for cutlery and the like.
I was thinking of storing cups, glasses, plates here. Although I also have a display cabinet in the dining room for that purpose.
Do you think one base cabinet about 1 meter (3.3 feet) wide and another about 0.5 meter (1.6 feet) wide as drawer cabinets would be enough?

I have 590 cm (approximately 19 ft 4 in) of drawers with a usable internal height of about 9 cm (3.5 inches). These store cutlery, kitchen tools, cling film, small items, shot glasses, coffee cups (not mugs), Tupperware lids, serving plates, spice jars, kitchen appliance accessories, and good knives in a knife block.

Then I have:
  • 5 pull-outs, each 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide and about 23 cm (9 inches) usable internal height, storing plates (up to 15) in 4 stacks, sturdier glasses, serving bowls, baking accessories, Tupperware bowls, and other bowls/measuring cups, etc. Nothing slides around even without non-slip mats, but access is convenient.
  • 4 pull-outs, each 40 cm (15.7 inches) wide and about 23 cm (9 inches) usable internal height, storing cooking supplies, taller spice containers, kitchen towels/rags, and a pasta machine.
  • 1 pull-out, 30 cm (11.8 inches) wide and about 23 cm (9 inches) usable internal height, storing onions, potatoes, and dishwasher detergent in a sealed container.
  • 1 pull-out, 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide and about 38 cm (15 inches) usable internal height, storing pots, pans, and in gaps, tall vinegar/oil bottles.
  • 1 pull-out, 30 cm (11.8 inches) wide and about 38 cm (15 inches) usable internal height, housing organic waste and paper recycling directly under the countertop.
  • 1 sink pull-out, 50 cm (19.7 inches) wide, with space for typical kitchen cleaning supplies and waste bins for yellow sack (recyclables) and residual waste.
  • 1 wall cabinet, 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide and about 80 cm (31.5 inches) high, for kettle, toaster, sieves, hand mixer, and on the top shelf, empty preserving jars.
  • 1 wall cabinet, 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide and about 80 cm (31.5 inches) high, storing pasta supplies, party cutlery, flour/sugar supplies.
  • 4 wall cabinets, each 40 cm (15.7 inches) wide and about 40 cm (15.7 inches) high, for coffee cups, coffee and tea supplies, and other small items.
  • A tall cabinet with a raised dishwasher, above it a combination oven with built-in microwave, and at the top, a compartment about 60 cm (23.6 inches) wide and 80 cm (31.5 inches) high with the depth of the tall cabinet, for fondue sets, large soup pots, a clay pot, roasting pans, and similar items.

You never really have enough space.
For me, it’s more about comfort. I would only use pull-out drawers under the countertop, not simple cabinets. Who wants to kneel on the floor every time they need something from the back of the cabinet?

Well, it’s kind of inconvenient to have glasses and plates stored in pull-out drawers. If you open and close them a bit too quickly, wouldn’t they tend to rattle and possibly break or chip?

Take a look at proper kitchens—there’s no rattling or sliding around. At least an anti-slip mat should be standard here.
We only have pull-outs at the bottom because they’re simply practical. You can see everything at a glance. Or do you want to search for dishes and glasses inside a base cabinet? For each pull-out cabinet, we also ordered a separate inner drawer. You can never have too much space, and staying organized is half the battle.

Of course, we also have tall cabinets with shelves. But anything below chest height is on pull-outs.

I visited a kitchen planner who recommended a Brigitte kitchen to me.
However, I had never heard of that brand before.
The configuration is roughly as follows (not yet 100% final and I don’t remember all the details):
- Painted high-gloss fronts
- 1 tall cabinet (~1.8m (6 feet))
- 1 tall cabinet for fridge-freezer combination (~1.8m (6 feet))
- 50cm (20 inches) base cabinet, 1 large drawer, 2 large pull-outs
- 60cm (24 inches) base cabinet, 1 large drawer, 2 large pull-outs
- 2x 100cm (39 inches) base cabinets, 1 large drawer, 2 large pull-outs
- 60cm (24 inches) base cabinet with shelf
- 60cm (24 inches) sink base cabinet
- Corner pull-out cabinet (don’t remember size), contents are rotated outward
- 1 pull-out pantry cabinet, size unknown (small one next to the stove)
- Constructa oven with pyrolytic cleaning
- Constructa 80cm (31 inches) induction cooktop, 4 cooking zones with combination and power functions, freestanding
- Constructa fridge-freezer combo with 217L (7.7 cubic feet) fridge, 59L (2.1 cubic feet) freezer (energy rating A+) (built-in)
- Constructa 60cm (24 inches) dishwasher (A++) (built-in)
- 40mm (1.6 inches) thick wooden worktop, ~7.5 meters (25 feet) in length
- Quasar 80cm (31 inches) safety glass extractor hood (800m³/h (470 CFM))
- Franke Pebel built-in sink
- Window stainless steel faucet

The kitchen height is 90cm (35 inches) at the work surface (maybe 92cm (36 inches)), depth 60cm (24 inches).

This is basically the configuration. A few front panels to fill gaps. Hopefully, I haven’t forgotten anything.
- Measurements will be done by the kitchen fitter
- Delivery and installation as well
- I will connect the electrical appliances myself

Price: 10,500

The consultation sounded fair and honest. The showroom kitchens seemed solid and made a good impression.
The offer seems reasonable to me as long as the Brigitte brand is not lower quality.

If anything is missing regarding price evaluation, please let me know.

What do you think?
I have no experience with kitchen brands at all, only know brands like Alno. Where would you roughly place Brigitte?

Brigitte is not really impressive. In my opinion, the price isn’t either.

Our kitchen – I believe it’s the larger model from Häcker/Systemat, matte lacquer finish, with Neff appliances, Berbel hood, and Miele dishwasher – cost just under €12,000 (about $13,000).
