Dear experts,

For our garden shed, we would like to reroof with trapezoidal metal sheets. We plan to install a cross battens and counter battens system on top of the underlayment membrane and are now unsure about which type of wood we should use for the battens. Many instructions for trapezoidal metal sheets emphasize the absolute necessity of using impregnated (pressure-treated) battens. However, in none of the tutorials or instructional photos do we see impregnated wood, and at least for tiled roofs, using impregnated wood has been prohibited since 2012. Could you please clarify this? For environmental reasons, as well as the fact that impregnated wood seems difficult to obtain in our area, we would be grateful if we could get by with standard spruce/pine rough-sawn battens measuring 24 x 48 mm (1 x 2 inches).

Thank you very much for your advice!
