Hello everyone,
I am looking for good tips and tricks to assemble the Ikea BILLY bookcase much faster and more efficiently. I am especially interested in advice on preparation, tools, the sequence of individual steps, and any helpful experience with the small, sometimes fiddly parts.
Since I need to assemble several bookcases in a short time, it would be great if you could share practical insights or proven methods. I would also like to know if using additional tools is worthwhile and how to avoid common mistakes to save time.
I am really looking forward to your advice!

I am especially interested in tips on preparation, tools, and the sequence of the individual work stepsMy number one tip: Always unpack and sort all parts completely at the beginning. This provides a clear overview and prevents missing parts, which can waste a lot of time. Then study the instructions carefully and have the appropriate tools ready. A cordless drill with adjustable torque is invaluable, especially if you are assembling several BILLY units in a row.

whether the use of additional tools is worthwhileI also recommend a rubber mallet and possibly small clamps to hold screw connections together if needed. Following a clear order – first the side panels, then the back panel, and finally the top and shelves – helps maintain a good workflow and saves a lot of time.

Additionally, a cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque is important to avoid over-tightening the screws and thus protecting the furniture pieces.
Another tip to speed up assembly: the order does not have to be strictly followed, but installing the back panel last makes stabilizing the entire piece easier; this helps to avoid repeated adjustments.
I also recommend having the assembly instructions handy in a well-lit, as neat as possible, workspace. This reduces the risk of losing time due to mistakes.
Finally, check all individual components against the description beforehand; this also saves time by preventing the need for reorderings.
