Hello,
We are planning to install new windows at my parents' house. Now the question arises: Are roller shutters a good option, or would external blinds be better?
What experiences do forum members have with this?
Thank you very much for your replies.

I would always prefer roller shutters over blinds. I am convinced by advantages such as burglary resistance. They also keep out both cold and heat. Additionally, they are well suited for noise protection.
Best regards

I think these are fundamentally different things: a roller shutter and blinds. If I prioritize security, installing a roller shutter is the right choice. If I want to darken the room and keep the heat out, blinds are a good option. However, I would choose roller shutters because they offer more advantages.

We also had roller shutters installed afterwards. This was a good decision because we live on a very busy street. The roller shutter box was installed above the window. Although this slightly reduces the window area, it does not matter much. On the other hand, we are no longer disturbed by the noise as much.
