Hello,
we have purchased a newly built semi-detached house.
We have electric roller shutters installed on all windows except for the slanted roof window (which also serves as an emergency exit).
I wanted to ask if it is possible to have electric roller shutters installed on the slanted roof window as a special request.
Would this make sense in terms of heat protection and sun protection?
Does anyone have an estimate of what the cost might be?

To be clear: yes, roof windows with shutters are available. But there are also shutters for roof windows that can be retrofitted.

Would that make sense in terms of heat protection and sun shading? Shutters closed = no more sunlight getting in. Question answered? 🙂

Does anyone have an estimate of what that would cost? I’ve seen retrofit shutters priced around 5–800 euros, excluding the window itself.
@untergasse43 Thanks
Which option would you prefer: retrofitting, for example a Velux with solar and wireless control, or having it done directly as a custom order?
How are the shutters powered in a custom order? Are they connected directly like the other shutters with a wall switch?

Today seems to be the day of confusion here in the forum.
What do you see as the difference between radio-controlled Velux windows and custom requests? I would ALWAYS choose hardwired motors if possible.
Motors are powered through cables, how else? They need to be connected to the window. And there will also be wall switches, either standard switches or wireless push buttons. Or maybe a remote control is enough for you...
This is an important point, especially for retrofit solutions:

For emergency exit windows with electric operation combined with mechanical emergency release, either it doesn’t exist or it’s expensive
For example, Velux has a solar module built in.
I would also prefer hardwired connections and hope that they do this as a custom option, just like with all other roller shutters.
The emergency exit is only an issue as a custom request; when retrofitting yourself, you can do whatever you want.
If the roller shutters are made smart, you can set them to open when the smoke detector alarm goes off.
