Hello,

we are planning to start building our house at the end of October / beginning of November.

We will be installing some Roto R8 roof windows, which according to the Roto website have the following specifications: "triple safety and thermal insulation glazing with anti-condensation coating and sound insulation (SSK 3)."

If we choose roller shutters, I would like to have them installed right away so that the electrical connection can be properly integrated with a switch. Alternatively, I am considering an internal blackout blind combined with an external sun screen.

Do you have any experience with the noise levels of roller shutters on roof windows, or are the plastic slats even noisier than rain falling directly on the glass?

Thank you

In our old apartment, we removed the sun screen and installed roller shutters. It was definitely quieter afterward.

I have lived with Velux windows both with and without roller shutters and have very good memories of the shutters. In terms of heat protection during the summer, they are absolutely the best solution in my opinion. (The downside, as always, is that it gets dark)

Because of the brightness in summer, I initially favored screens, but your replies clearly lean toward roller shutters.

In online stores, they start at around 500 euros, and with installation and procurement through the roofer, the cost will definitely exceed 2,000 euros. I will ask about it.

If that was part of the question: We were satisfied with the roller shutters; the sun protection is significantly better.

And the roller shutters are really easy to install. The most complicated part is getting the electrical connection neatly inside.
