Hello everyone, I am deciding on an Ikea PAX combination for my daughter’s bedroom and am wondering which doors would be best suited for it.

I am especially interested in materials that are durable and easy to maintain, as well as child-friendly operation, so ideally no sharp edges or complicated handles. It would also be useful to know if Ikea offers doors that match the design of a child’s room better (for example, colorful or with rounded features) and are also easy to open and close.

Does anyone have experience with specific PAX doors for a child’s room? Which door model would you recommend and why? Are there any special tips for installation or use with young children? Thanks in advance!

I installed the Pax hinged doors with soft-close and white fronts in our children's room.

They are easy to maintain, open smoothly, and have no sharp edges on the handles, as we chose flat handles.

I believe the topic of doors in children's rooms shouldn't be approached too dryly. A bit of color or playful elements can work wonders – although this is not directly possible with Ikea PAX doors.

But: you can get creative yourself!

- Apply magnetic stickers or chalkboard film to the doors
- Attach self-adhesive colored handles
- Or paint the doors with washable paint

This way, the standard PAX design can be made more child-friendly without causing any damage.

You just need to be careful that nothing interferes with the sliding door function or that hinges are painted over.
