Hello everyone, I am currently planning to set up a children's room using IKEA Besta furniture and would like to know which variations or combinations from this range are particularly suitable for kids' rooms. Important factors for me are safety (no sharp edges), adaptability to changing needs (e.g., storage, adjustability), as well as child-friendly design and easy cleaning. Does anyone have experience with specific Besta models that have proven to work well for children? Tips on recommended dimensions or material combinations would also be helpful. Thank you in advance!

I think the BESTA series is great for kids’ rooms! Especially the soft-close doors—they’re excellent because kids are less likely to pinch their fingers.

I can totally confirm that! As a mother of two young children, I know how important these little details are, which bring a lot of safety and comfort.

What I also considered was the design aspect: I wanted furniture that grows with the child, remains flexible, and is still sturdy enough to withstand occasional minor falls without damage. The BESTA systems really helped me here because, with a few additional parts (e.g., feet with casters or small cushions), you can easily and quickly make changes to the room.

However, I would recommend not only choosing light colors in the design but also opting for matte fronts, which show fewer fingerprints and glue residues (anyone with kids knows this). Overall, the BESTA range has proven to be a practical combination of functionality and child-friendly design, even if it requires a bit more planning than simply buying standard furniture.
