Hello everyone,

I’m looking for alternatives to assembling the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe. The problem is that the instructions aren’t always entirely clear, which sometimes makes the assembly take longer than expected. Do you have any methods or approaches that helped you build the Brimnes faster, more stable, or just more pleasantly overall? I’m interested in both practical tips on how to join the parts more efficiently and alternative assembly sequences that might improve the structure or make the process easier. Additionally, I’d like to know if any of you recommend tools or aids beyond the standard screwdriver set.

Maybe you also have tips on which parts to sort or prepare differently to avoid mistakes. I’m looking forward to your detailed experiences and recommendations!

The question is valid, but it’s important to differentiate what is meant by “faster” or “more stable.” Because faster assembly can sometimes come at the expense of stability. Therefore, my first question in return is: What is more important to you? Efficiency during assembly or the durability of the furniture?

From my experience, especially with IKEA furniture that involves a lot of screws and dowels, it’s worth sorting all the parts first and organizing the screws by type. I would then recommend initially tightening all screws only loosely to avoid alignment errors.

Another point that is often overlooked: using small angle brackets to secure the side panels during assembly can greatly increase stability. Although this is an additional step, it pays off in the long term.

Without this, I would say that a simple “alternative assembly sequence” mostly depends on your personal organizational approach rather than a fixed order specified by IKEA.

That’s a very good tip! Building on that: when it comes to tools beyond the basic set, I recommend investing in a cordless drill with adjustable torque control. This is especially helpful when working with many screws and prevents over-tightening.

I also find a flexible work surface useful, one that can be stood upright as needed. This helps avoid scratches and gives you more freedom of movement.

Regarding assembly sequences: some people intentionally change the order of construction—for example, instead of installing the back panel first, they assemble the side panels and base first and only add the back panel at the end. This can make handling easier, especially when working alone.

Finally, I advise reading the entire instruction manual before starting. Important details are often hidden on the last pages.

I recommend:
- Sorting screws
- Using a cordless screwdriver with low torque
- Attaching the back panel only at the very end

This saves time and ensures a stable result.

Oh yes, definitely check all parts for damage before starting and inspect the screws – that once saved me an annoying delay!

Also, I can only encourage you to keep going, even if the assembly gets tough sometimes, you can do it! I once assembled the Brimnes with two people, which really made things easier. If that’s not possible, take breaks to keep a clear mind.

And about tools: a T-handle screwdriver helps with leverage and provides more torque, perfect for the tricky screws! Good luck to you all!!!
