The mattress protector SKYDDA LÄTT (90x200 cm (35x79 inches)) priced at €4.99 is advertised in the current catalog, but you cannot actually buy this item. This is extremely disappointing.
Not even a replacement product at the same price for the mattress protector is available at IKEA Nuremberg.
This is what you call customer-unfriendly.
Unfortunately, I had to bike 20 km (12 miles) back home without this item.
On my way home, I passed by Matratzen Concord and, lo and behold, I got a mattress protector there. It is a bit more expensive, but at least I have one.

Ikea – customer-unfriendly
Ikea – advertised products not in stock
Ikea – consumer laws/rulings are disregarded.

NEVER IKEA AGAIN.

Everyone has their own expectations. The price validity is all well and good, but what about product availability?

... or is this meant as a bait-and-switch offer?

Well, I’ll end the discussion here because I have a mattress protector, and IKEA has one less customer.

Goodbye ...

What I wanted to say with my "story":
It doesn’t make much sense to complain on an Ikea fan page******. At least, that’s how I see it. If there are problems, I would rather contact Ikea directly.
And expecting an item to be available at all times—I find that unrealistic. When I shop, there are always items that are out of stock or not yet available. That’s normal. And how is the unfortunate Ikea employee supposed to offer you an alternative?

If I may share some insider insights...

We constantly face issues with stock availability ourselves. Right now, I am working on the Christmas shop. There isn’t enough stock of any single item to both decorate the store and still have enough left for sale. Especially with new products, it’s hard to predict how well they will sell, so the stock is kept rather limited. If the item sells well, it’s gone in no time, and latecomers miss out. If it sells poorly, the warehouse ends up overflowing. With 14,000 products, anyone can imagine what that leads to...

As far as I know, when an item is currently out of stock in the country, they check which branch has enough available. Then we order from there, and the customer is informed as soon as their item arrives. But of course, this usually doesn’t apply to products priced at $4.99. It’s more common with beds, sofas, kitchens, and so on.
