Hello everyone,

I have an issue with the drawer handles on my Malm chest of drawers: the handles are made of plastic, and some of mine are either cracked or have small breaks that make it difficult to pull the drawers.

I’m interested in hearing your recommendations for damaged Malm drawer handles. Should the handles be completely replaced, repaired, or is there a proven method to fix such damage without having to disassemble the entire chest of drawers?

If you have experience with this issue, I would greatly appreciate your tips and advice on how to best maintain or replace these frequently used but relatively fragile parts.

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, a complete replacement is usually the most sustainable solution. Repairs, such as gluing, tend to last only a short time and can fail quickly under daily use.

Alternatively, you might consider replacing the handles with metal ones, which are often more durable and can also look more premium if you’re thinking about an upgrade.

If you decide to replace the handles, remove the drawer first, as accessing the screws can be difficult otherwise. With a bit of patience, though, it’s not a complicated task.

If you’re still unsure about how to remove the handles precisely, I’d be happy to guide you through the process step by step.
