Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe and want to make sure I follow all important safety guidelines to ensure both the assembly process and the later use are as safe as possible.

I am particularly interested in which specific safety precautions should be taken when putting together the individual modules and securing the unit to the wall, so that the wardrobe remains stable and there is no risk of accidents. It would also be helpful to know if there are any tips regarding the correct tools and anchoring methods that might be less well known but still important.

What general and possibly also specific safety instructions should be observed when assembling the IKEA Brimnes furniture piece, especially regarding its inherent stability and potential hazards in everyday household use?

One more tip regarding stability:

Be sure to attach all the back panels using the nails or screws provided by IKEA. Otherwise, the cabinet frame will be unstable. Without the back panel, the cabinet can easily tip over.

This discussion really clears things up! 😄

A small addition: Don’t stress if you notice something doesn’t fit perfectly. Sometimes, assembling the cabinet with two people helps—not only is it more enjoyable, but it also reduces the chance of mistakes.

When screwing parts together, always be careful not to overtighten—the cabinet frame can crack more easily than you might expect. It’s better to tighten with care.

And yes, wall mounting is the true hero against tipping accidents—even if the cabinet initially seems very stable.

For gypsum plasterboard, special hollow wall anchors or metal toggle anchors should be used to provide sufficient support.

Thank you for the detailed information about the type of anchor for gypsum plasterboard walls. This helps me a lot, as I want to ensure a secure fixing exactly at that point.

I agree, the assembly instructions at least recommend that. I will get some help.

In summary, my plan is to use appropriate anchors for wall mounting, fully attach the back panel, use a spirit level, and tighten the screws carefully but firmly. If there is anything else I should keep in mind, I would appreciate any advice!
