Hello,
what is the best fuel material for heating? I have a wood stove that can run on any type of fuel. So, what is best: pellets, firewood, or briquettes? Everything is quite affordable at the moment, but I am also thinking about the environmental impact!

Hello,
in my opinion, pellets are the best heating material. Since they are made from compressed wood, their heating value is very high. Additionally, wood is climate-neutral because only as much CO2 is released as the wood absorbed during its growth.

Hello,
with permission from the forestry office, it is also possible to collect wood from the forest yourself. Of course, you are not allowed to cut down any trees, but you can gather anything that is already lying on the ground. This way, you can obtain firewood while also getting the necessary exercise.

If you simply take wood from the forest, it won’t be dry, and if you then try to burn it, you will get an unpleasant surprise. It will produce a lot of smoke and fill the whole place. You should only use dry wood if you want to heat with it!

I also collected some wood from the forest myself because I thought I could save some money that way. But it was just too wet, and I wasn't able to get it to burn. That turned out to be a good thing because a friend told me I would have filled my entire apartment with smoke.

I always use beech wood as firewood for the fireplace. Beech has a high heating value and burns for a long time. It also produces little soot and ash.
