SarraI am considering purchasing the IKEA Brimnes furniture system, and I have noticed that there are many similar furniture options available on the market. I am particularly interested in understanding the advantages the Brimnes system offers compared to comparable furniture. Specifically, I am looking at aspects such as quality, functionality, storage capacity, and design, as well as everyday practicality and the value of the materials used. Perhaps someone here has experience or can clearly explain the unique features of Brimnes compared to other furniture series?
BRIMNES mainly stands out for its well-designed storage space and clear, minimalist design. The individual components can be combined in various ways and are often somewhat more affordable than comparable models from other manufacturers. The workmanship is solid for the price.
Regarding the initial question about the advantages of IKEA BRIMNES compared to similar furniture, I would like to explain a few technical details:
- Material quality: BRIMNES furniture is mostly made from a mix of particleboard with a melamine coating, which is durable and easy to maintain, but does not match the quality of solid wood. This is typical for IKEA, but the workmanship is neat and the edges are well finished, which positively affects the longevity.
- Functionality: A particular highlight of BRIMNES is the clever use of storage space. For example, the dressers and beds come with larger-than-average drawers. Especially the drawers under the bed have been a favorite feature for many users. The drawers slide smoothly and the hinges are soft-close, making the overall handling very good.
- Assembly & modularity: A major advantage is the modularity; many components can be easily assembled or repurposed without much effort. This makes BRIMNES a good choice if you often rearrange your furniture or want to adapt to changing needs.
- Design: The design is simple, leaning towards modern and Scandinavian styles. This ensures that the furniture fits well into a wide range of interior styles.
It would be interesting to know from Sarra what the main priority is. Are you mainly looking for a lot of storage space, or is ease of assembly and everyday comfort your focus?

Are you primarily looking for a lot of storage space, or is comfort during assembly and daily use your main focus?Thank you for asking. For me, storage space is particularly important because I live in a small apartment where every centimeter (inch) counts. The furniture should provide as much space as possible, but still not appear bulky. At the same time, ease of use in everyday life matters to me, such as how smoothly the drawers operate and how easy it is to assemble the furniture. Design is also important, but it's more of a secondary concern. Durability is of course a factor, but functionality takes priority for now.

- The drawers are deep and make efficient use of space.
- The soft-close feature ensures that the drawers close quietly and smoothly, which is really convenient for everyday use.
- Additionally, IKEA’s assembly instructions are very detailed, so even if you’re not a professional, you can usually put the system together without any problems.
- Another advantage is the clean design lines: it looks neat and modern without being overpowering.
Personally, I find the value for money of BRIMNES especially good. If you plan to combine several pieces from the series, the dimensions also match well, supporting a harmonious look in the room.
