Hello,

We would like to skip a towel radiator in our small bathroom for the children (about 4 square meters (43 square feet)). Our architect suggested laying the underfloor heating pipes closer together instead. We have a gas heating system and a ventilation system. The plumber said that the room might not get warm enough without a towel radiator and recommended installing one. A temperature of 22 degrees Celsius (72°F) would be sufficient for us. Does anyone have a small bathroom with a shower and can share their experience regarding this?

Best regards,
Sabine

Our shower toilet is only gently warmed by the underfloor heating. However, our walk-in shower also has heating coils. Heating system: gas.

Best regards in brief

Hello Sabine,

I have a guest bathroom of a similar size, with underfloor heating but without a walk-in shower.

Generally, I would ask you to post a small floor plan including ceiling heights.

However, your heating installer’s idea does make sense. The bathroom or wellness area is and remains a major issue when it comes to heating capacity. The climate zones around here are quite variable... just in the Palatinate region, you have a temperature delta of 20°C (36°F) at night... so it is generally too vague to say yes or no outright.

Above all, what would speak against a towel warmer, since drying is... well, another topic.

An electric radiator can be installed later if it really gets too cold. Just prepare the connection in advance.

Of course, you can do that.....
When the wiring is installed.....electrical protection?
For example, in the master bathroom, I have 2 circuits.....each rated at 16A.
As mentioned.....everything across the board.

Hello,
We have a small guest toilet without a towel warmer. We were also told back then that it could be tight with the underfloor heating. Since it’s our guest toilet, we decided they should just deal with the cold.
It is true that the temperature there is often 1-2 degrees Celsius (34-36°F) lower. If it were a regular bathroom, it would bother me. So, I would install the towel warmer if you plan to use it as a full bathroom.
