Hello,

I’m completely new here and have no experience with construction, so I ended up here.

I’m renovating my home, specifically the terrace. I extended it a little toward the front. We set up the formwork nicely and poured concrete with reinforcing steel.

We removed the old tiles, and the entire layer underneath came off as well. It was a kind of screed about 4cm (1.5 inches) thick.

Now my question about retiling: How exactly should I proceed? Should I just apply a new screed with a slight slope and then lay the tiles, or is there something special I need to consider?

I would appreciate some advice.

Is it covered?
If not, simply apply the tiles directly onto the concrete with adhesive, ensuring a slope of about 2% away from the house (this depends on the type of tile). If your concrete layer is too low, increase the height with a screed to the desired level (this is more cost-effective and perfectly sufficient for a terrace), then lay the tiles.

It is important to ensure that no water flows towards the house as a precaution against water damage.
