ᐅ Telecom Main Distribution Frame (MDF) Outside vs. Inside

Hello home builders,

Since the house construction will start soon, I asked the telecom provider about the phone connection. During the call, they only mentioned the installation inside the house. The main connection box (APL) on the exterior wall was only mentioned when I asked, with the explanation that the telecom company would just install it somewhere on the wall. She didn’t know more about it and said I could find information on their website. However, even after a long search, I couldn’t find anything.

In the offer form, the APL installation inside costs a flat rate of 800 euros. The lady on the phone said the cost includes “everything.” My question to experienced home builders: should I expect additional expenses, like conduit installation or other charges?

Personally, mounting the APL on the outside wouldn’t bother me either. Is this really free of charge, or should I anticipate installation fees? Has anyone regretted opting for outside installation?

The telecom provider offers a 400 euro credit on an internet contract. Has anyone had experience with these offers? Are they similar to those advertised on their website (for example, €20 instead of €40 for the first year), or does signing up through the builder service only grant worse rates?

Thanks!

I will probably just have the main distribution frame installed inside and subscribe to the connection with Telekom for the first two years.

By the way, the main distribution frame remains in place even after you cancel the Telekom connection and is used by all providers who lease this line from Telekom (which applies to the majority of providers).

You get the same rates from Telekom as on their website, but you must book by phone through the home builder service to receive the discount. The costs include everything, only the trench for the conduit must be prepared (we had an empty conduit installed for Telekom right away).

And be sure to apply in time, preferably before construction starts (not a joke!).

We also paid 600,- for interior installation. It was done together with gas, water, and electricity lines. We also had the trenches on the property dug.

We installed the multi-utility entry ourselves, as it would have cost an additional 500,- EUR.

A third party installed everything for us and, despite being contracted for the exterior installation (free of charge), after a friendly conversation, moved everything to the interior (multi-utility connection). The trench had already been filled, so they dug it up again and closed it afterwards. It all worked out – maybe just lucky.

For us, the documents were also pre-filled twice with a €600 (about $650) interior connection charge, and only after several reminders did we receive a "blank" form where I could order the exterior connection.
