Hello home builders,

Since the house construction will start soon, I asked the telecom provider about the phone connection. During the call, they only mentioned the installation inside the house. The main connection box (APL) on the exterior wall was only mentioned when I asked, with the explanation that the telecom company would just install it somewhere on the wall. She didn’t know more about it and said I could find information on their website. However, even after a long search, I couldn’t find anything.

In the offer form, the APL installation inside costs a flat rate of 800 euros. The lady on the phone said the cost includes “everything.” My question to experienced home builders: should I expect additional expenses, like conduit installation or other charges?

Personally, mounting the APL on the outside wouldn’t bother me either. Is this really free of charge, or should I anticipate installation fees? Has anyone regretted opting for outside installation?

The telecom provider offers a 400 euro credit on an internet contract. Has anyone had experience with these offers? Are they similar to those advertised on their website (for example, €20 instead of €40 for the first year), or does signing up through the builder service only grant worse rates?

Thanks!

Hello,
the €800 also includes the installation on public land, but you have to dig the trench on private property yourself.
I seriously considered just taking an APL and installing it myself inside the house (yes, I know you're not allowed to, but I didn’t care...). In the end, I paid the €599 (that was the amount paid until last year) and that was it.
The rates, according to the information I received last year, are the same as you can find on the website.

Regards,

Andreas

Since I’m economical, I initially wanted it outside but then changed it to inside. We are in a fiber to the home area. According to a technician I know, it only makes sense to have it inside. The contract is the same as the one everyone gets. But with fiber to the home, you have to take the 50,000 DSL plan. Other providers aren’t possible anyway. According to Vodafone, for example, they cannot provide service in this area because Telekom has an exclusive right for ten years. Unless we take cable TV and no phone line. In that case, we are completely dependent on Vodafone. That’s no better. The problem is, no matter who you ask, Telekom is very slow, and almost no one had phone service when they moved in. Karsten

The 10-year period is not accurate. At present, you are completely dependent on the telecommunications provider. This currently applies only to copper lines, the so-called investment protection. For fiber optic, there are no regulations in place yet.

External telecommunications connection points are not inherently bad, but relocating them indoors later will probably cost just as much as installing them indoors from the start. Also, nothing is connected directly at the external point; it only leads to the "first terminal outlet." That will likely be installed indoors – do you really want a cable nailed onto the wall for the entire route to it?

Does the house have a multi-utility entry point, or would a separate trench need to be dug through the front yard for this?

Thanks for the answers. Yes, we have a multi-utility entry point. I will also search the suggested forums.

I will probably just have the fiber termination point installed inside and book the connection with the provider for the first 2 years. If it stays around 800 euros, that’s fine.
