AGlasDear Forum Members,
For the Süddeutsche Zeitung, I am planning a multi-part long-term report on the topic of homebuilding. I would like to accompany a young family during their build—from the very beginning, or at the latest from the start of groundwork, up to moving in.
The report will primarily serve as a practical guide. The focus is on the homebuilding process with all its highs, lows, and challenges. Alongside this, it will explore how a family experiences this demanding yet exciting time in every respect.
Since a long-term report requires several site visits, it is important for organizational reasons that the construction project is located in Bavaria.
For our readers, such a step-by-step report could be a valuable aid for their own homebuilding plans—and for you, it might be a nice keepsake in text and photos.
In any case, I look forward to hearing from anyone interested, even if just to ask questions about what the project might look like in detail.

Best regards,

Text and photos – does that mean a newspaper format (print and online)? Wouldn’t a TV format be more suitable?
I find it hard to imagine how readers would stay interested, having to wait (over how many parts?) for three quarters to a full year for the next installment. And should it really focus on only one family – wouldn’t it make more sense to include three or more families from urban and rural areas, spanning from Aschaffenburg to Passau?

Of course, we plan not only in print but always start with digital. Each issue in our online or digital edition refers to previously published issues and indicates that more will follow. Gradually, a dossier is created that provides an overall overview. And yes, we are also considering additional video formats, for example on TikTok and Instagram. Naturally, building projects vary regionally and between urban and rural areas, but we really want to focus on the building process. It should be about decisions, compromises, step by step. Prices in particular vary by region, but certain decisions and processes are common to all.
