Hello everyone,

we are currently planning the staircase for our newly built single-family house.
We have decided on a concrete flight with a landing staircase.
I would like to install an LED strip on each step.

Our staircase will be shuttered on site and cast in concrete.
One flight from the landing to the upper floor will be cantilevered, without a side wall.
What is the best way to run the necessary cable to each individual step?
I have some 2x2x0.8mm² cables (J-Y(ST)Y 2x2x0.8) available.
Can I lay them directly into the formwork and have them embedded in the concrete?

I look forward to your experiences and ideas.

Thanks and regards,

No, you install that only after the concrete has been poured, since you reduce the concrete height by 5 cm (2 inches) anyway for the flooring. You only need to prepare the connection point during the shell construction phase, as well as switches, etc.

Thank you for your response.
How do I access the individual steps after the staircase has been poured?
I was thinking that the cables could come out at the position of each step and then be connected to the LED strip later.

What material will be used to cover the staircase? You can lay the cables directly on the concrete stairs since they are very thin. Then apply adhesive or mortar and install the stair tread with a groove and LED strip. Remember the transformer if you use 24 or 12 volts. I installed mine into the wall of the adjacent pantry.
