Hello, probably a silly question, but I’ll ask it anyway.
I currently have some fine gravel left over, which isn’t useful to me at the moment and mostly just gets in the way.
The base layer for the terrace is usually made with 0/32 gravel (probably to allow surface water to drain away).
Is it a bad idea to spread the finer gravel around the house and in the planned terrace area to level out uneven spots and fill holes so it gets used up?
Or would I create a barrier that could cause problems with surface water drainage later on?

Well, there won’t be a vapor barrier, but it doesn’t feel very comfortable to walk on either.

You can mix it in if you have very clayey soil and are planting something. It also works as a "grit" for winter. If you don’t have space for it, it’s better to give it away to someone who can pick it up than to use it in a way that will cause you frustration later.

Inside these, there would again be 0/32 with 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches) of fine gravel as a base layer for the terrace slabs, which are meant to be laid loose...
The question was whether the fine gravel (I think it’s 8/16) under the 0/32 would cause problems later...
