this week we bought a new kitchen from IKEA. Included was a pizza oven OV9 with a pizza function.
We have now used it for the second time and cooked/baked a delicious roast in it. Naturally, it splattered quite a bit. When I wanted to clean the side walls, I noticed that between the actual side wall (enameled) and the wire rack support, there is another sheet metal/panel. This one has a very rough surface. (There is also this sheet metal on the back wall.)
Question: Is this supposed to be inside the oven, or was it only for transport? And if it belongs inside, how do I clean it?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers.
Best regards,

IKEA-Experte24 Oct 2011 22:36These are probably the walls designed for catalytic self-cleaning.

Elvis_122025 Oct 2011 10:21As the IKEA expert already mentioned, if the surface is very rough, those are the walls with catalytic liners. You don’t need to clean them because they “self-clean.” They heat up more than the rest of the oven and burn off grease splatters and food residues on them.
You only need to replace them eventually when they become saturated.

I was already worried that we might have somehow sealed in a membrane or something like that.
Well, now we can bake with the oven without worries. Thanks again.
