The eaves need to be painted. What is the best way to do this? The wood was treated with a wood stain about 4 years ago, and it now looks dark brown. It is now supposed to be painted white. Does the old stain need to be sanded off before painting white, or can it simply be painted over?

A wood stain penetrates deeply into raw wood, so it doesn’t easily wear off.
My tip: clean with the black side of kitchen sponges and netrol. Google it and order it, as it’s hard to find outside Schleswig-Holstein. Brilliant stuff from Norway for cleaning wood.
Afterwards, the wood will be noticeably lighter. Then apply two generous coats of Konsolan or something similar. Karsten
