Hello everyone,

Since the installation of our house will start soon, we visited a bathroom showroom today to get advice on the equipment and design of our bathroom and to put together a plan.

The showroom only offered laminate panels (Resopal) for the wall and floor design, including the walk-in shower, and said that these are about one third cheaper than tiles. I wanted to ask if that is really the case? The effort to install them seems to be much lower.

How durable are these panels?

What are the disadvantages of laminate panels compared to tiles?

Does anyone here perhaps have some experience with this?

Best regards,
Tobi

We have a kitchen in our renovated place, built in 1954, which has been moved once since then and continuously used by a family with two children, and later by the couple alone, until both passed away at 96 and 97 years old.

The cabinets are solid wood, with fronts made of Resopal panels. I had to sand some parts inside the cabinets – I cleaned the Resopal panels with dish soap. They look like new after 64 years of use.

It is, for example, much more prone to scratching.

Aluminum dibond is still used for large-format applications.
